I am Robert.  I am (((1/(7x+14))/((2x-4)/((x^2)-4)))^-1) years old; If you care to solve that you get to know my age.

I read a lot (between 150 and 250 pages an hour, depending on book size and interest.  Interesting, mass-market paperback size books fall right about at 200), mostly sci-fi and sci-fantasy.  With an emphasis on hard sci-fi.

I’m also a musician; I’ve played piano for nine years, saxophone for three, bassoon for two, and I’m learning flute.

I love computers.  My current setup is a MSI Wind U100 (a netbook) dual-booting Windows XP and Ubuntu Netbook Remi 9.10, hooked up to a 20″ monitor with 1600×900 resolution whilst I’m at my desk.  I’m learning HTML, CSS, and Java.  I try out and mess with all kinds of software, many of which you will find reviews for on this blog.  My browser of choice is Google Chrome, followed by (a heavily modified and tweaked) Firefox; Firefox has lately been suffering from feature bloat.

Feel free to contact me at ramblingsauthor@gmail.com.  You can also find me on IRC in the Foonetic network on the irc.foonetic.net server in the #xkcd channel as LordOfWhales.

It’s this blog called Ramblings. You might have heard of it.

I created the first incarnation of Ramblings (http://ramblings-robert.blogspot.com) on April 11, 2009. This version — the better one — was created in November of 2009.

This blog is hosted — and the theme provided — by WordPress.

  • Because I felt like it
  • Because there was a chance someone could learn or find something cool from my blog
  • Because blogging is, as I now know, pretty fun

  1. Woah, did you say you hooked up a Twenty Inch Monitor (1600 x 900 same as mine :P) to a netbook? That’s a lot of demand on your netbook.

    • Yep, 20″! No, it’s really not too bad. The only problem is when I try and view video full-screen; it gets choppy and blocky.

On your “How to setup/print half-letter-size booklets” page, I have word 2007 and there is NO half letter size on the list. I scrolled to the bottom.
No half letter. Can you comment?

    • That is… very strange. The dimensions are 5.5 by 8.5, both in inches. Good luck!

Yes. I know the dimensions. The only selection that is close is A5, 5.83 by 8.27. But no half letter on list. Is there a way I can make a custom size and have it show on list?

    • Hmm, not off the top of my head. Let me check…

You can try More Paper Sizes at the bottom of the list and put in your own dimensions there. I think.

I don’t see where I can add a new size to the list. If you find out how, let me know. By the way, I think Word 2010 has half letter size on the list.
